Converting your old site to WordPress is a very sensible thing to do. It will provide you with a widely used CMS (Content Management System) which in turn will allow you greater flexibility, coupled with the ability to create new content and edit existing.
What Takes Place – Step Through
Your server space is setup and we load WordPress with all the internal settings completed and the security aspects covered. Plugins are loaded, along with any frameworks and themes. Statistic recording is setup and server files that keep certain web crawlers from accessing your site are installed. By doing this you get proper statistics that are accurate.
E-mail accounts are created and the details supplied to you so that you can set up your e-mail programs to accept incoming mail. Any redirection of e-mail is set up at this point, domains that are held but are not used are set to point to the Domain Name that you are using.
Any social networks that haven’t been captured at this point should be. A minimum of Facebook, Twitter, Google, YouTube and Pinterest should be held even if not used. Your Google Business entry is also set up and activated (if this is required) as it takes time for this to go live. You gain more visibility through having a business listing so we strongly recommend it.
If error logs are available from your old hosting we check them and address any issues found. Error logs are the best way to track and deal with these issues. Your new site will have these error logs that we can/do access to ensure everything is as it should be.
We analyse your present site, we look at the code behind the wrapper to determine the SEO aspect. There are specific paths and signposts within code that must be present and in the right order for Google to rank you correctly. This will allow us to structure your SEO on the new site.
Next we look at what keywords and phrases are to be used throughout the site and formulate what is best described as a ‘website robot crawler map’. This means we provide the robots that crawl web pages with signposts to find the keywords and phrases that your site needs to rank for. We set realistic targets for the new site to achieve.
At this point your ranking within Google is noted and held for later comparison so that judgement can be made on changes made. This will formulate the base line from which future position will be gauged.
We then bring your old content into the new site and make any necessary alterations to this content for SEO purposes. Navigation is set up at the same time and internal linking is completed. You now have a backbone to your site upon which everything else can be solidly attached.
Images from your old site are web optimised to ensure that file sizes are small to keep your new site fast but at the same time sharp and vibrant. All the relevant tags and descriptions are completed as these are very important to Google and your websites ranking. The images are then placed into the content and checked for any operational issues.
Next we set up all the necessary authorise files for Google to allow us to use their webmaster tools. Webmaster tools provides a lot of useful information that ensures things are as they should be.
Converting your old site to WordPress is now almost complete!
Next we bring in the Framework and the Theme. These are activated and the theme tweaked to reflect the look of the site that is required. All the linking is checked and content proofed. Any external scripts (twitter feed, trip advisor etc ) are checked and the site is run through a speed checker.
If everything is ok we instruct Google and other specific search engines to crawl the site and index pages.
Your site is then monitored over the next couple of weeks to ensure that everything is working as it should. It will take time for Google to index all pages and images and ranking will adjust over several months. You will be able to judge the effectiveness of pages through the monthly e-mailed report that you will receive.
Finally you will be issued with a username and password and your membership area on the websitu website will be activated so that you can access the pod casts available.
Converting your old site to WordPress – Completed 🙂
