Making sure your Web Design runs like clockwork
We will discuss your requirements and get a feel for what you are wanting to achieve and the nature of your business. It is usually a good idea to supply us with an outline via e-mail giving us a brief scope and possibly a couple of sites that you have seen as a starting point.
From this initial discussion we will formulate what we think best fits your needs and discuss this with you, providing you with different options to arrive at the web design that best fits your needs and budget.
Paperwork – Web Design
We will then issue you with some of the paperwork that we will require you to supply us with. This will be in the form of an e-mail which will require you to answer a number of questions for us and will form the basis of our contract with you. The final paragraph will ask you to acknowledge that you are happy for ‘websitu’ to provide you with the website agreed in this e-mail.
Content – Web Design
Once this is returned we will require all text, graphics, photographs and media that are to be used in your site. Domain names will already have been checked for availability and if we are purchasing on your behalf we will require details of who they are to be registered to.
We prefer that you register and hold these domains – please read this post as to the reasons why.
E-mail Accounts – Web Design
If you require e-mail accounts then all prefix’s should be supplied at this point so we can get all the server duties completed and all your accounts up and running. At this point we have a folder structure in place which houses all “your” documents and media and this will be the structure that is passed back to you upon completion so that you have everything that is applicable to your site. We do all this through the use of Dropbox, it is simple to use and ensures that you always have up to date information. Please see this post for further information regarding dropbox.
The majority of development takes place off line but once it is at a stage where we require you to check certain aspects we will provide you with a link. There are always things to check so we may ask you to check things several times, please be patient with us, we feel it is far better to get things right in development than have the site go live with mistakes.
SEO – Web Design
In documents supplied to you, you will find a spread sheet which we require you to enter words that you would search for your business or service by. We use these words in the development of your site and they form a reference point for how your site is performing. If part of your package includes us looking at the way your site performs throughout the year then this spreadsheet will become a record of how things are progressing, along with other reports from the server.
When we have finished development and all points that you have raised have been addressed you will be asked to visit the site to go through it one last time. If you are happy with everything the site will be transferred to your hosting and the domain will become active. Google will be informed that the domain is live and we will monitor the site over the next 8 weeks to view its performance if this is part of your package. Further info can be found here.
Completion – Web Design
We will invoice you for payment of our work once you are completely happy with the website, we would appreciate payment to be made within the stipulated terms. We would also be grateful if you could supply us with feedback regarding the work we have completed for you and at this point encourage any constructive criticism you may have of our service.
We will keep in touch and contact you at the end of the 12 months at which point your hosting costs will be payable for the next 12 months.
